Wright-Giemsa Stain Kit
Wright–Giemsa Stain Kit is a polychromatic Romanowsky-type staining system designed for differential staining of peripheral blood films, bone marrow smears and suitable cytological preparations. It provides contrasting staining of nuclei, cytoplasm, granules and other cellular components, supporting detailed microscopic evaluation of cellular morphology.

The stain combines basic methylene-blue/azure dyes with acidic eosin Y. The basic dyes interact preferentially with acidic cellular components such as nuclear chromatin and RNA-rich cytoplasm, producing blue to purple shades, while eosin stains basic protein-rich components such as hemoglobin and certain granules in pink to orange-red shades. The characteristic Romanowsky effect produces additional purple/metachromatic colour reactions that enhance cellular differentiation. Methanol in the staining system also serves as a fixative for suitable smears, while the buffer pH influences the final colour balance and staining intensity.
