GelaChrome TM Adhesive is a time-tested, ready-to-use tissue adhesive for routine H&E Staining, Special Stains, and Large Tissue Sections. It is the most economical alternative to Poly-L-Lysine for general histopathology labs where IHC/FISH is not performed.
- Most Economical: Ideal for high-volume H&E labs doing > 50 slides daily.
- Ready-to-Use Optimised concentration.
- 0.2 Micron Filtered & Preserved: Unlike lab-made gelatin which gets bacterial/fungal growth in 3-4 days, our solution contains preservative and is stable for 12 months at 2-8°C. No contamination, no autofluorescence.
- Excellent for Large & Hard Tissues: Best for whole-mount brain, large prostate slices, bone with implant, plant tissues, which tend to roll and detach from charged slides. Gelatin gives extra stickiness.
- Zero Background in H&E: Does NOT take up Harris Hematoxylin or Eosin if properly dried. Gives clean background.
- Student & Research Grade: Perfect for histology teaching labs, veterinary colleges, research labs.
1. Protein Film Adhesion Mechanism is simple but effective:
- Step 1 – Gelatin Film: Gelatin is a hydrolyzed collagen protein. When coated on glass, it dries to form a thin, highly sticky protein layer with many free carboxyl and amino groups.
- Step 2 – Chrome Cross-Linking: Chrome Alum [KCr(SO4)2] acts as a mordant and hardener. Chromium ions (Cr3+) cross-link the gelatin molecules to each other and to the glass surface. This makes the gelatin film insoluble in water and prevents it from dissolving during staining.
- Step 3 – Tissue Bonding: When a tissue section is picked on this sticky film, tissue proteins bind physically and ionically to the gelatin layer. Baking at 55-60°C for 1 hour melts the paraffin and presses the tissue into the gelatin film.

- Important Note : GelaChrome TM Adhesive is NOT recommended for IHC, ISH, FISH, or Pressure Cooker Antigen Retrieval. Gelatin is a protein and can melt at >90°C. For IHC/FISH, please use our SlideBond TM Coated Slides for permanent adhesion.
-
1. Massive Cost Saving
2. Prevents Folded / Washed Sections: Solves common problem of sections detaching in tap water wash or Eosin stain.
3. Better Flattening: Film is hydrophilic, sections stretch beautifully without wrinkles.
-
1. Ready-to-Use: Just dip and use.
2. Longer Water Bath Life: With preservative, water bath doesn’t get sticky biofilm in 2 hours like plain gelatin.
