Perl’s Prussian Blue Stain Kit is a special histological staining system for the demonstration of ferric iron (Fe³⁺), particularly hemosiderin, in tissue sections. It is widely used in histopathology to identify tissue iron deposits and assess their distribution in organs and pathological specimens.

The stain is based on the reaction of ferric iron (Fe³⁺) present in tissue with potassium ferrocyanide in an acidic medium. Ferric ions react with ferrocyanide to form an insoluble ferric ferrocyanide complex (Prussian Blue), producing distinct blue deposits at sites containing ferric iron. A suitable counterstain provides contrast for evaluation of tissue morphology.
